New School supplies for all Laurel students!!! Pick up on 5/21 & 5/22

This Thursday, May 21st and Friday May 22nd, we are providing new school supplies to all Laurel students. We were fortunate to receive this generous donation for more than $28,000 from our school partner, The Dominguez Dream. Each student will receive close to $50 worth of school supplies to use at home the last few weeks of distance learning and during the summer.

In addition, for grades 2-5th, you will be able to drop off your child’s library books and music instrument on the same day you pick up the school supplies. Please check with your child or teacher if you have questions about library books or music instrument.

In keeping with social distancing guidelines, Laurel has developed the following procedures for the pick up of student supplies and drop off of books and music instruments:

    • Review the date and time for pick up based on your child’s grade

    • Parents with multiple siblings at Laurel school may select one date and time for pick up-

    • Parents are encouraged to come any time during the “30 minute window” to reduce traffic.

    • The supply pick up will be “drive through”in front of the school.

    • A walk up table for parents will be available at 11am, only if you are not able to drive for pick-up.

Also, I wanted to thank everyone that completed the Intent to Return form-nearly 200 families have already completed the form.  If you have not completed the form, it is very important that you complete the form this week.

Please be safe, and we are excited to see you Thursday or Friday.

    Laurel's Little Free Library

Library PhotoThanks to our Girls on the Run team,  Laurel Elementary now has its very own Little Free Library. Little Free Library is a non-profit organization that inspires a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges throughout the world.

    Here’s How It Works:

    • Little Free Library is a "take a book, share a book" free book exchange.
    • You may donate a book (or more) by simply placing it inside the library.
    • You may take a book for yourself or to give to someone.
    • You do not have to replace a book if you take one, but exchanging is certainly appreciated!

Please stop by Laurel Elementary's Little Free Library during the summer. Staff & students will be adding new books all summer long.

Gracias a nuestro equipo Girls on the Run, Laurel ahora tiene su propia Little Free Library (bibliotequita).
